Los Angeles- Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee came out of yesterdays Iowa caucus with a strong showing. According to CNN the former Arkansas governor was victorious in the battleground state of Iowa, winning with 34 percent.
Huckabee’s victory comes only one day after a trip to Los Angeles where during a taping of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Huckabee crossed the picket line of striking writers. Leno returned to the air Wednesday but without writers unlike David Letterman. Letterman and his production company, World Wide Pants, had reached an agreement with the Writers Guild of America, which allowed his late night show to return with material from unionized writers.
The WGA issued this statement regarding Mike Huckabee. “The Writers Guild is disappointed that Mike Huckabee crossed the WGA picket line today at NBC. We welcome the statements of support he has made for striking writers, but we ask him to respect our picket lines in the future and urge the media conglomerates to return to the bargaining table to make a fair deal that will put writers and the entertainment industry back to work.”
The Huckabee campaign has not yet issued a formal apology to the striking writers. A representative of the Huckabee campaign told us “Huckabee was told that Jay Leno had worked out an agreement with the writers”
and was clear to say, “The Governor believes the writers to be in the right. He is pro writer!,”
